The girls from Tukkies Women's rugby achieved a milestone, with five players from the club being selected for the National training camp. The players that were selected are Yolanda Meiring, Caroline Makhanya, Ingrid Botha, Pulani Motluong and Gesa Kock. The girls earned their places in the national training squad, with good performances over an extended period.

Four of the girls were also part of the recent CAR seven's tournament in Uganda, where Caroline Makhanya, Pulani Motluong and Gesa Kock represented the Tukkies seven's team, while Yolanda Meiring was part of the Springbok seven's team.

We at tuksrugby.co.za would like to congratulate our girls with a wonderful achievement and we hope that ALL of you are there when the final squad is selected.

You've made us proud!

The Springbok training camp will be held on Friday and Saturday, 17 and 18 August, 2007 at the High Performance Centre (HPC) at the University of Pretoria Sports grounds. SA women's rugby gains momentum

A call for rugby to be a game for all is fast becoming a reality. This comes as women’s rugby is now nailing its colours to the mast by taking all ages on board.

The provincial Women's Rugby Tournament has been held in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, and coincided with Women's Day celebrations. It is aimed at developing women’s rugby at grassroots levels to ensure tapping talent at early stages and ensuring representivity of the country's demographics in this sport. The North West province walked away the winners this year.

Five provinces and the correctional services teams participated at a two-day tournament. Organisers say the aim is to take the game to communities and areas where it hardly exists. Manager of development of the game, Mahlubi Puzi, says much is envisaged for women in the game in years to come.
